Deanna Driscoll & Rafael Goldstein rehearse a scene from Cygnet Theatre's production of Keiko Green's play SHARON

About Me

Rafael was raised in Altadena, CA, by an English professor and a neuropsychologist. The acting bug bit immediately: at age 3, he had his first speaking role at a Los Angeles church. By 12, he was on a professional stage, debuting as a young Orson Welles in The Great Houdini at the Stella Adler Theater. This early success led him to the LA County High School for the Arts. During his freshman year, he began an intensive "alternate education" as a working classical actor with A Noise Within Classical Repertory, mastering foundational stagecraft. He then earned his BFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where he honed his technique at the Atlantic Theater Company. Returning to LA, Rafael became known for performances described by critics as "jangled, dangerous" and so captivating that "you'll be talking about [them] long after...the house lights come up."

"Watching anyone else when Rafael Goldstein...is around is a real challenge. He dominates the production—slouching on every set piece like he owns it, comfortable everywhere...He's the life of the party and the play..."(Talkin'Broadway)

"Being able to witness Goldstein perform a Shakespearean monologue is a divine pleasure..."(Stage Raw)

"Then something magical happens: The language is so transparent and powerful, and Goldstein is such a compelling performer...we get invested."(LA Times)
